'Conquest: First Blood' Gets Revamped

Para Bellum Games has revamped Conquest: First Blood with a new rules set coming in February 2026.

Six years after launching the Conquest: First Blood skirmish-scale miniatures game into retail as a spinoff of Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings (see “‘First Blood’ for ‘Conquest’“), Para Bellum is re-branding the game and handing it a few upgrades. The changes to the game start with a new, sharper logo that better reflects the overall philosophy and design of the product line (which is fast and furious bloodletting on the battlefield). This will help First Blood craft its own identity as a game, allowing it to separate itself from Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings a little.

Para Bellum has also created a brand-new game system for First Blood. Thus far, details on the new system are sparse, but there have been a few bits of information released. The new system is still scalable; the game focuses on skirmishes, but larger armies will also have a place in First Blood. It also still revolves around players taking control of Warbands, composed of different Regiments and Monsters, which are led by Heroes.

The new elements to the game system mostly involve dice rolling and streamlining of rules to make gameplay faster. This game has a comparative dice rolling system featuring head-to-head rolls that are aimed at creating more exciting moments during the game. Also, Command Card usage has changed to allow every Officer to utilize them on the battlefield; they now activate every Warrior tied to that regiment at the same time. Additionally, the design team has attempted to streamline the amount of text in the rules, in order to help reduce pauses in gameplay to look up rules in a lengthy rulebook.

More details on the new First Blood rules will be released closer to the launch date.
