WizKids will release The Cask, a new board game based on the Edgar Allan Poe short story “The Cask of Amontillado.” Designed by Scott Rogers (Alien: Fate of Nostromo, Pantone: The Game, others), The Cask is for two players who play as Fortunato and Montresor, the characters from the story who work to escape the vault or exact their revenge.
The box includes 16 cards, 11 Brick Tiles, 5 Discovery Tokens, 4 Board Pieces, and rulebook. The game is for 2 players ages 12 and up and plays in 20 minutes. The Cask will be released in September 2026 at $29.99 MSRP.
WizKids appears to be increasing its focus on inexpensive stand-alone games as the miniatures business becomes more challenging due to erratic U.S. tariff policy. The company will release DC Breakout: Arkham Asylum, another $29.99 board game, in February 2026 (see “’DC Breakout’”).
