With Art by the Late M.D. Bright
BOOM! Studios has announced a new superhero series, The Center Holds, by G.I. Joe writer Larry Hama and the late M.D. Bright (see “RIP M.D. Bright”), who worked together on Marvel’s G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. The series is the final work by Bright, and to honor him, BOOM! and Hama will donate 2% of net sales of the comic to The Hero Initiative, an organization that provides assistance to comics creators with medical or financial problem.
The Center Holds is a superhero story with a meta twist: It’s set in a society where superheroes are not only commonplace but are required to join a union in order to avoid being held liable for the costs of their battles. The story follows one such union with a diverse group of characters as they face down both villains and red tape. The first issue will be released on February 11, 2026, with covers by Bright, Joe Quinones, Khary Randolph, and Chuck Patton.
