Binc Launches 'Stand with Book and Comic Stores' Fund-Raiser

The Book Industry Charitable Fund (Binc) has launched its annual fund-raising campaign, Stand with Book and Comic Stores, with a goal of $200,000 and a commitment from three publishers, Penguin Random House, AdventureKEEN, and HarperCollins, to match the first $30,000 in donations. In addition, supporters who donate $100 or more in the fund drive before December 31, 2025, will get a credit for an audiobook of their choice from Libro.fm, and those who donate $500 or more will get three audiobook credits.

“Book and comic people need our support now more than ever,” said Binc CEO Pam French in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Housing stability and high medical costs are the top two reasons people are coming to us for help. We’re incredibly grateful to Penguin Random House, AdventureKEEN, HarperCollins and Libro.fm for joining us in support of these book and comic people who open their doors to their community and bring people together, provide safe spaces, and share ideas in this time of increased divisiveness and uncertainty.”

Last year, an anonymous comics retailer provided $10,000 of matching funds for Binc’s annual campaign (see “Giving Tuesday”). In January, Dog Man creator Dav Pilkey, Mad Cave Studios, Tokyopop, and IDW, as well as several book publishers, made donations to Binc to help retailers affected by the California wildfires (see “Geek Community Rallies Round Victims of LA Wildfires”).
