Fantagraphics will publish Bitchy! The Exasperating Existence of Midge McCracken, a collection of underground cartoonist Roberta Gregory’s humor comics about an abrasive, angry woman, most of which were first published in the Fantagraphics series Naughty Bits. Gregory began Naughty Bits in 1991, when she was working as a production artist at Fantagraphics, and it ran for 40 issues over 14 years. The 506-page paperback will be released on March 3, 2026, with an MSRP of $39.99. Fantagraphics will also offer a signed, limited edition hardcover for $79.99.
Gregory’s comics career began in 1974, when she created the comic strip Feminist Funnies and began contributing to Wimmin’s Comix. In 1976 she launched the comic series Dynamite Damsels, thought to be the first self-published continuing series by a woman creator. She was also a frequent contributor to Gay Comix.
Naughty Bits was adapted into animated shorts and then an animated series, Life’s a Bitch, which ran on the Oxygen Network in 2003 (see “Bitches on Oxygen”).
