'DOOM' Board Games Hit Kickstarter

The two board games based on the DOOM video game franchise announced by Modiphius earlier this year (see “Two New ‘DOOM’ Board Games“) have hit Kickstarter, with two editions for each.

The two games use the same rule sets but are set in different DOOM eras.  DOOM (1993) Arena Board Game is set in the original 1993 video game world, with the associated pixelated aesthetic.  DOOM: The Dark Ages Arena Board Game is based on the 2025 DOOM: The Dark Ages video game release developed by id Software and published by Bethesda Softworks, and has a grimdark, medieval fantasy aesthetic.

The two-player competitive combat rules pit the lone Doom Guy against the Hordes of Hell on a hex-based Arena Map.  Each unit has unique abilities and specialized attacks, requiring players to balance offense and defense in each turn to maximize damage and minimize incoming assaults.

Each game comes in two versions: a Standard Edition with standees, priced at $60 in the Kickstarter; and a Premium Edition with plastic miniatures, priced at $80 in the Kickstarter.  There is no retailer tier in the Kickstarter, and no information has been released on whether both editions will be available to the trade at a future time.  Kickstarter fulfillment is planned for October 2026.
