Drawn & Quarterly has lined up new graphic novels by Tillie Walden and Luke Healy, a searing nonfiction memoir about the organ transplant industry, and R. Sikoryak’s rendering of the Declaration of Independence in classic comics style. Plus: Moomins! Here’s a look at the lineup.
Charity and Sylvia, by Tillie Walden: Walden’s newest graphic novel tells the story of Sylvia Drake and Charity Bryant, who met in 1807 and for the next 44 years lived openly as a couple in small-town Vermont. Walden drew on contemporary sources, including archives of the couple’s writing, to depict not only the lives of Charity and Sylvia but the world around them and the way it changed over their long relationship. Walden won the 2018 Eisner Award for Best Reality-Based work for her autobiographical graphic novel Spinning, and her other work includes The Walking Dead spinoff Clementine and the moody sci-fi tale On a Sunbeam.Charity and Sylvia will be released as hardcover on May 26, 2026, with an MSRP of $30.
Dogs on Dates, by Luke Healy: Two dogs walk into a plate-glass window. It’s not exactly meet-cute, but that’s how Luke Healy’s LGBTQ canine romcom begins. Bernie is a gay, trans, and rather blasé art student who is about to drop out of school. Brad is softhearted and idealistic, which is why he is dressed as the planet Earth when he walks into the window (he is on his way to teach a class on environmentalism). The mishap sends them both to the hospital, where their relationship blossoms. Healy’s How to Survive in the North was one of Publisher’s Weekly’s top graphic novels of 2016 (see “PW’s Top Graphic Novels”). Drawn & Quarterly will publish Dogs on Dates as a paperback on June 23, 2026, with an MSRP of $25.00.
Opioids and Organs, by Arizona O’Neill: O’Neill’s debut graphic novel is a mix of memoir and exposé. It begins at her father’s deathbed, where he is about to succumb to a fentanyl overdose. Persuaded by his doctors to donate his organs, O’Neill later regrets her decision and begins to investigate the organ industry and its relationship to the opioid epidemic. The 374-page hardcover will be released on May 19, 2026, with an MSRP of $30.00.
Declaration Illustrated, by R. Sikoryak: Following up on his Eisner-nominated Constitution Illustrated (see “Drawn and Quarterly Announces New Titles for 2020”), Sikoryak illustrates the full text of the Declaration of Independence with drawings based on the styles of well known comics creators, from Will Eisner to Allie Brosh. The slim (128 pages), compact (5″ x 7″) paperback will hit shelves on June 30, 2026, with an MSRP of $15.00.
D&Q continues its Moomin publishing program with Moomin Adventures: Book Three, a landscape-format collection of strips by Tove and Lars Jansson, and Moominsummer Madness, a new edition of Tove Jansson’s children’s book, which was first published in English in 2010.
Other titles on the Spring list include Mary Pain, a story of a woman in mid-life who returns to her dead-end hometown, by Spanish creator Lola Lorente; Narrow Rooms, by Choi Sungmin, a Korean story that goes in the opposite direction, as a young woman leaves her provincial town for Seoul, where her dark desires put her in jeopardy; Appleguy and Beefwood, Cedar Van Tassel’s lighthearted buddy comedy; Beware Her Fury, Mirion Malle’s story of a woman recovering from sexual assault and the anger it brings; Yoshiharu Tsuge’s A Nobody Artist, the latest in D&Q’s series of his work; and Vol. 4 of Shirato Sanpei’s Legend of Kamui.
