Rob Liefeld has announced that every issue of his upcoming relaunch of Youngblood (2025) will include a special version stylized to mimic the look of manga. The “Cover M” variants will have the color stripped out and replaced with black and white, with gray screentones and pops of red.
“I love the style and design of Manga comics and I created an approach to my work that attempts to mimic those artistic influences with the Youngblood manga editions,” Liefeld said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “These have proved extremely popular with consumer[s]! I’ll be doing a manga edition alongside each issue!”
The first issue, which launches on November 5, 2025, will have a raft of variants (see “Preview: ‘Youngblood’ (2025) #1 Covers”), including 27 retailer exclusives, 30 team-up covers (see “Preview: ‘Youngblood Team-Up’ Variant Covers”), and multiple incentive ratio variants,
Liefeld announced his return to the series in October 2024; the new Youngblood will be a collaboration with Platinum Studios and will be published by Image (see “Liefeld Back on Youngblood”).
