Heritage Auctions will be auctioning off iconic pieces of original comic art from Todd McFarlane and Frank Frazetta in their latest Comic Art Signature Auction on October 17, 2025.
These pieces are original art are from the Keif Fromm Estate, a collector who passed away in 2024. The heavy-hitters in this auction lot are an original piece from Todd McFarlane and one from Frank Frazetta. The McFarlane piece is one of the most iconic and recognized Batman covers of all-time, Batman #423. This work is considered one of McFarlane’s best as it captures the dichotomy of Batman’s character, as both a compassionate protector and a powerful vigilante cloaked in darkness. This piece has already been bid up over $600,000 in pre-bidding (with Buyer’s Premium).
The Frazetta cover is rather obscure, yet noteworthy nonetheless. It is for The Ghost Rider #5 (1951) from Magazine Enterprises, and depicts Golden Age Ghost Rider (Rex Fury) swinging into action. This is an unusual piece for Frazetta, as it is for a Western comic serial as opposed to his more well-known Sword & Sorcery and Science Fiction pieces. Frazetta rendered the covers for The Ghost Rider#2, #3, #4, and #5. This piece has already pre-bid up over $140,000.
Recently, a Frank Frazetta Conan cover hammered at $13.5 million (see “Frank Frazetta ‘Conan’ ‘Man Ape’ Painting“).
