Comics Retailers to Get Collected Editions and OGNs 27 Days Ahead of Digital and Book Channels

Image Comics has announced that it will shift its release dates on collected editions and original graphic novels so that direct market retailers will get their books 27 days ahead of retailers in the book channel as well as all digital platforms.  The change will take effect with titles that go on sale on December 24, 2025.  As Image explained in an email sent to retailers on September 23, 2025, the change is due to new logistical requirements for shipments to the book channel.  “Rather than let these changes dictate our release schedule,” the email said, “we see it as an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to you – the retailers who have been champions of our creators and their stories from the very beginning and continue to drive discoverability for our books.”

Image recently announced the return of The Darkness (see “Mark Silvestri, Image to Launch Ongoing ‘The Darkness’ in December”).
