Josie and the Pussycats
Long tails and ears for hats
Guitars and Marshall stacks
Hot, sweet, super cool, don’t y’all know these kitties rule?
With those words began the cartoon adaptation of Josie and the Pussycats, one of the most beloved cartoons that ever aired on television! Debuting on September 12, 1970 on CBS, the series from Hanna-Barbera Productions (who also gave us such legendary shows as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and the Scooby-Doo franchise) instantly became a Saturday morning sensation thanks to its mix of lovable characters who leapt vividly to life from the pages of Archie Comics, music, and madcap adventures.

Running for a total of 16 unforgettable episodes during the 1970-71 Saturday morning season, the oft-repeated toon was launched into the stratosphere for the sequel Series Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space. In that show, Josie, Melody, Valerie, Alan, Alexandra and Alex Cabot, and mischievous cat Sebastian were all accidentally transported into the cosmos. Before you could say “hurray hurray,” our heroes were encountering all sorts of intergalactic foes. But they made a few new friends as well, most notably Melody’s beloved pet alien Bleep! This iteration of the series also ran for 16 episodes.
Although an original episode of a Josie and the Pussycats cartoon hasn’t aired for 50 years, both series’ never left the public consciousness thanks to frequent syndication and cable television airings, as well as home video and, later, DVD releases. (And we’re willing to bet that you have the cartoon’s earworm of a theme song bouncing through your head as you read these very words!)
To celebrate this milestone, we’re giving you this new promo code that is valid all weekend long at
