Next 'Superman' Movie Announced; Warners Files AI Suit; 'Marvel Zombies' Trailer; 'Dynamic Duo' Rewrite; 'Bluey' Movie Gets a Date; 'Tomb Raider' Starts Filming

Summer is winding down, and hot Hollywood news has dropped.  Time for a round-up!

James Gunn announced the next Superman movie via his social media accounts.  The next installment in his hot Superman reboot series of films (see “‘Superman’ Tops Box Office“) is entitled Man of Tomorrow, and it will hit theaters on July 9, 2025.

In other Warner Bros. news, the company has filed suit against AI company Midjourney, following a template laid down in two other suits earlier this year, according to Variety. Midjourney was sued in July by NBC/Universal and Disney (see “Disney, NBC/Universal Sue Midjourney“), alleging that the company “…displays hundreds, if not thousands, of images generated by its Image Service at the request of its subscribers that infringe Plaintiffs’ Copyrighted Works.”  In the Warners complaint, they alleged that Midjourney creates still and video images using their copyrighted characters, including Superman, Batman, Looney Tunes characters, and more.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation has commissioned a rewrite of the Dynamic Duo animated movie, according to an exclusive at The Wrap This movie, about the early years of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd (see “‘Dynamic Duo’ Movie“), will be rewritten by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who were nominated for an Academy Award for the Disaster Artist.

Marvel Studios has released an official trailer for Marvel Zombies (see below).  This animated series begins streaming on September 24, 2025 via Disney+ (see “‘Marvel Zombies’ Gets a New Date“).

BBC Studios and Disney will release a Bluey movie into theaters, which was announced via Disney’s X account.  The movie, based on the animated series about a Blue Heeler pup of the same name (see “‘Bluey’“), will hit theaters on August 6, 2027.

The Tomb Raider live action series is set to begin filming, according to Variety. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that production will begin on January 19, 2026, and Sophie Turner will, in fact, portray Lara Croft in the series (see “Amazon Eyes ‘GoT’ Star for ‘Tomb Raider’“).Source: ICv2
