Keymaster Games’ Hanami, a new board game, sits fully-funded on Kickstarter.
This board game is based on Reiner Knizia’s Samurai game, a tile-laying game that was first released in 1998 (see “Reiner Knizia’s ‘Samurai’“). In the new version of the game, players are competing for the best spots to view the sakura blossoms in full bloom (as opposed to trying to conquer Japan). Players will need to place their group near food, flowers, and festivities to attain the best spots. Hanami features new artwork, a new theme, and new actions on tiles that lead to more strategies and ways to win.
Hanami is for two to four players, ages 10 and up, and plays in 45 minutes. The campaign, as of the publication of this article, sits at $135,195 raised from 2,068 backers (about $65 per backer) and includes a retail tier. This game is expected to release in Q2 2026.
