Horror Week: 'Killadelphia' Creator Rodney Barnes Tackles a Terrible Legacy in 'Crownsville'

Oni Press will launch Crownsville, a five-issue series by writer Rodney Barnes, creator of Killadelphia and Blacula, and artist Elia Bonetti, in November.  The story revolves around the real-life Crownsville psychiatric hospital in Maryland, a segregated facility that was notorious for the mistreatment of its patients; the hospital closed down in 2004.

Set in the present day, Crownsville follows a detective and a journalist as they investigate an alleged suicide in the abandoned building and confront the horrors of the past.  The 48-page first issue will be released on November 12, 2025, with covers by Jason Shawn Alexander, Elia Bonetti, and Szymon Kudranski, a 1:10 full art variant by Alexander, and a 1:20 variant by Andrea Sorrentino.

Barnes is collaborating with Steve Niles on Days of Night: Falling Sun, a sequel to Niles’ 30 Days of Night, which will be published by IDW Publishing (see “IDW Launches Horror Imprint“).
