Official Primarina ex and Sylveon ex deck strategy revealed for Pokémon TCG Pocket

The Pokémon Company is continuing to reveal new content for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Read on below to learn more:

The Soloist Pokémon takes the stage with Sylveon ex and an ensemble cast of Supporter cards.

It’s no secret that Sylveon ex, from Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s Eevee Grove expansion, has that star factor—its Happy Ribbon ability can make the strongest decks around even faster by allowing card draws when it’s played to evolve a Pokémon. In this deck strategy, we’re pairing the Intertwining Pokémon with Primarina ex from Eevee Grove to jump into action fast enough to keep pace with the competition.

2× Popplio (Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo)
2× Primarina ex (Eevee Grove)
2× Eevee (Eevee Grove)
1× Vaporeon (Eevee Grove)
2× Sylveon ex (Eevee Grove)
2× Professor’s Research (Promo)
1× Hau (Eevee Grove)
1× Lillie (Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo)
1× Mars (Space-Time Smackdown: Palkia)
1× Misty (Genetic Apex: Pikachu)
2× Poke Ball (Promo)
2× Rare Candy (Celestial Guardians)
1× Pokémon Communication (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)

Game plan: Primarina ex steps into the spotlight as the blockbuster attacker. It boasts 180 HP—enough to survive attacks few other Pokémon could—and is able to heal 20 damage from itself each time it uses its Sparkling Aria attack. The Soloist Pokémon can perform its Hydro Pump attack for just one (or should we say a soloWater Energy, which allows it to start doing damage more quickly than any other Pokémon ex.

Like many decks that rely on Stage 2 Pokémon, this strategy can either hit or flop depending on how quickly Primarina ex enters the stage. This is where the curtain raises on Sylveon ex and Eevee—both can get more cards in your hand, helping Primarina ex get into play faster and drawing much-needed Supporter cards sooner. Keep in mind, however, that since this deck uses only Water Energy, Sylveon ex won’t be able to attack.

To counter any Oricorio—whose Safeguard Ability prevents all damage done to it from your Pokémon ex’s attacks—Vaporeon is waiting in the wings; just one successful attack with Hyper Whirlpool can Knock Out any opposing Oricorio.

For the supporting cast, Lillie and Hau can aid Primarina ex, while Mars can help hinder your opponent’s strategy by forcing them to draw an entirely new hand; Misty is included to boost the potential to accelerate Water Energy attachments. In terms of items, Rare Candy acts as a stand in for Brionne, allowing you to evolve your Popplio straight into the Stage 2 Primarina ex. Pokémon Communication is a special guest for its potential to get Primarina ex, Sylveon ex, or Vaporeon onto the field as quickly as possible—this Item card might be just what you need to help lower the curtain on your opponent.

Have fun setting the stage for battle, Trainers!
