Exclusive: First Look at Papercutz ‘Flash Gordon’ Anthology

Papercutz is going with an anthology format for the second volume of its middle-grade Flash Gordon graphic novels, with short comics by Art Baltazar, Franco Aureliani, John Patrick Green (InvestiGators), Stan Sakai, Mike Cavallaro (Nico Bravo), Rich Koslowski, Dawn Griffin, Maria Scrivan (Nat Enough), Rachel Ordway, Ryan Estrada (Banned Book Club, Student Ambassador), TEBO, Chris Giarrusso (G-Man), Mike Kunkel (Herobear and the Kid), Jim Keefe, Alexis Fajardo (Kid Beowulf), and Alex Schumacher. The stories focus on friendship and trust, with Flash battling an evil robot to stop it from destroying an amusement park, Dale saving the day for Flash and Princess Aura, and Ming and Flash duking it out to see who has the bigger ego. The book also features a new character, Cat Gordon, who was created by the son of project editor Adam Wallenta.

The 112-page anthology, rated for ages 7-12, will be released on November 4, 2025, in two formats, a paperback with an MSRP of $9.99 and a hardcover with an MSRP of $14.99.

“I grew up reading the classic Alex Raymond Flash Gordon and this version is a fun new take on the characters,” Sakai said in a comment accompanying the announcement. “I really enjoyed it!”

Baltazar and Aureliani, the team behind Tiny Titans, were the creators of the first Papercutz Flash Gordon graphic novel (see “Graphic Novel Gifts for Kids”).
