Binc, the Book Industry Charitable foundation, has named three new members to its board of directors: Kimberly Brock, James Killen, and PK Sindwani.
A 41-year veteran of Barnes & Noble, Killen was the sci-fi/fantasy, graphic novel, and manga buyer for the chain for 21 years and was instrumental in the explosion of those categories in bookstores in the 2000s. He was laid off in 2020 and is now the Director of Retail Operations at MangaSpot, the New York-based retail store owned by the Japanese publisher Kadokawa. (see “People on the Move”).
Brock is a book buyer for the Cincinnati bookstore Joseph-Beth Booksellers and a member of the American Booksellers Association’s Education Task Force and Binc’s BincTank committee.
Sindwani, who has an MBA in finance, owned a bookstore for 29 years and has spent the past six years as the CFO of the American Booksellers Association. He will retire from that post later this year.
Current Binc board president Chris Morrow and treasurer Jonathan Putnam will remain in their posts.
