For this edition of FanArt Friday, Pokémon Blog is delighted to display the spectacular art of Ariel Solverde (Solverde_art) This gifted artist participated in the project celebrating the “First Anniversary of FanArt Friday” titled “Pokémon Fan: Dibuja Tu Equipo Soñado,” organized by our dear friends from Ilustradoras Unidas.
“Art is the language I constantly refine to convey my imagination (which is always evolving and adapting to my daily life), the landscapes I travel through, and their impact on my dreams,” he told the Pokémon Blog Team. “I’ve always had a very visual way of thinking and recreating these images has been a process of continuous reinvention.”
Ariel associates Pokémon with his childhood and teenage years.
“For me, Pokémon was like having Tamagotchi-like pets. I remember naming my Pokémon with pet names and pretending to take care of them. I was more interested in Pokémon Contests than battles,” he shared. “When Pokémon Go came out, it became the perfect excuse to go out and connect with other people. Although I quit after a week because the app didn’t run well on my iPhone 4, I did manage to catch some Ghost-type Pokémon and a Vulpix that appeared in my bedroom.”
He enjoyed being a part of “Pokémon Fan: Dibuja Tu Equipo Soñado”, even if it was just with a sketch, as it allowed him to combine his art with the fond memories he has of Pokémon.
“I felt the nostalgia and emotion of being a kid again, remembering my team and how much I loved them.”
Ariel considered Mewtwo his favorite Pokémon ever since he watched the first Pokémon movie (“He was edgy with his misanthropic and nihilistic vibe”).
However, nowadays, he believes he would get along better with Breloom.
“I love Breloom a lot. I’ve always admired him for being so unique and connected to the forest. I actually go out to the hills to look for mushrooms as a hobby,” he concluded.
