Garphill Games has announced an upcoming Kickstarter campaign launching November 19. The campaign will offer a new deck of standard playing cards featuring artwork by The Mico from Garphill’s Medieval Trilogy games, with each suit representing characters from a different trilogy. Two versions of the deck will be available, each with unique card back art chosen through a community competition.
Additionally, a new promo deck for Paladins of the West Kingdom, titled New Suspicion Decks, will be part of the Kickstarter. Reprints of popular items, including the Raiders of the North Sea Solo Variant Deck, Raiders of the North Sea Play Mat, and The North Sea Runesaga, will also be available, alongside various North Sea and West Kingdom promos. Late pledges will be accepted into 2025.
Looking ahead, Garphill has announced plans to launch a Kickstarter for Assyria: Second Edition in Q2 2025. Originally released in 2009 by designer Emanuele Ornella, this redeveloped version has been updated by Shem Phillips and Sam Macdonald, with art by Sam Phillips. The game invites players to guide ancient Assyrian tribes in expanding territory and building influence along the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers, incorporating new strategic elements while preserving core gameplay.
Garphill has also introduced the Lens and Veil podcast, launched in October. Hosted by Shem Phillips, Sam Macdonald, and Zach Smith, the show explores game design through discussions on various titles, focusing on the creative decisions made by designers.
Additionally, Garphill now offers a monthly newsletter with news, product discounts, and exclusive articles for subscribers.
In related news, Arkus Games has launched Shadow Moon Syndicates, a game developed by Garphill’s Sam Macdonald. This Kickstarter, live until November 22, places 2-5 players in a competitive setting as syndicate bosses, tasked with accumulating influence and credits in Shadow Moon, a crime-ridden trading hub. More details are available on Arkus Games’ Kickstarter page.
