Girls vs Ghouls is a new competitive team game that combines hidden identities and strategic gameplay, all set against the backdrop of a Halloween-themed neighborhood. Players are divided into two teams, Girls and Ghouls, and the goal is to take control of the cul-de-sac by guiding trick-or-treaters to different houses and outmaneuvering the opposing team.
In the game, players secretly choose whether to align with the Girls, who are trying to protect the trick-or-treaters, or the Ghouls, who seek to lure them into haunted houses. To claim control of houses, players can use Treat cards openly to influence where trick-or-treaters go or Trick cards secretly to lay traps, which activate at the end of the round. Each round ends with a dramatic reveal, and players must carefully balance their public plays with hidden actions to succeed.
With a focus on strategic actions rather than social deduction, Girls vs Ghouls allows players to win through tactical moves on the board. There are three simple actions to choose from each turn, making it easy to learn and quick to play. The game also offers 12 unique characters, each in playful, homemade costumes, adding to the Halloween atmosphere.
Victory is decided after three rounds, with points awarded for trick-or-treaters led to controlled houses and bonus points for the houses themselves. Players remain in the game until the final reveal, keeping the outcome uncertain until the very end.
The Kickstarter campaign for Girls vs Ghouls has raised $25,305, surpassing its $5,000 goal. The campaign will end on November 1, 2024.
