Dan Cassar, designer of the widely acclaimed board game Arboretum, has launched his latest project, Mischief, on Kickstarter.
Set in the faerie lands of Tír na-Nog, Mischief revolves around the upcoming wedding of Queen Titania and Lord Oberon, two powerful figures in the faerie courts. Players assume the role of faerie nobility, using alliances and pranks to gain favor within the newly unified court. Cards are played to influence factions, with strategic choices determining whether players earn points through protecting allies, forming friendships, or pranking opponents.
The game plays in about 30 minutes, and its mechanics encourage thoughtful decision-making. Each player must consider not only the cards they play but also the cards they hold onto, as these will impact the final scoring after eight rounds.
Mischief is the debut title from Dream Cult Game Studio, Cassar’s new imprint. The game is designed to be portable, with the Tuckbox version allowing for on-the-go play. The Kickstarter campaign includes various editions, each featuring table cards to help organize the play area.
