D23 shook up the showbiz world in a major way, unleashing a ton of news. It’s time for a round-up!
Disney dropped a bevy of major animation trailers at D23, including trailers for previously announced projects Mufasa (see “Disney Shuffles Schedule“), Moana 2 (see “‘Moana 2’“), and Toy Story 5 (see below). In addition to the trailers, they also announced that Frozen 3 will hit theaters in 2027.
Alongside the animation trailers, Disney also released trailers for their new live action projects. They revealed a trailer for Snow White, which is headed to theaters on March 21, 2025 (see “Best in Shows — 2025“), and announced a Lilo & Stitch live action project that is scheduled to arrive in summer 2025.
Lucasfilm also offered up news from the Star Wars front. They launched a teaser trailer for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (see below), and announced that the Mandalorian & Grogu movie has just begun filming and is scheduled to arrive in 2026 (see “Geek Movie Calendar – 2026“).
Marvel Studios revealed an official trailer for Agatha All Along (see below). This series starts streaming on September 18, 2024 (see “‘Agatha All Along’“).
Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails will provide the score for the Tron: Ares movie. This movie is scheduled to come out in October 2025 (see “’Tron 3’ Returns to the Grid“).
The third Avatar movie finally has an official title. Avatar: Fire and Ash, starring Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, heads to theaters on December 19, 2025 (see “‘Disney Reserves Dates“).
