Everything you need to know about Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego in Pokémon Masters EX

Pokémon Masters EX, the strategy and battling Pokémon game for mobile platforms, is now available for download on the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). In celebration of the game’s popularity, special in-game events and rewards are being offered for all players to take part in on a regular basis.

Boost your teammates and weaken your opponents with this Rock‑type special strike sync pair.

Selene brings her Alola region pride to the isle of Pasio with a stylish new outfit originally seen in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon and a new sync pair partner, the Ultra Beast Nihilego. Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego arrive in Pokémon Masters EX as a Rock-type special strike sync pair that thrives on boosting allies and weakening opponents.

The duo’s Alola Analysis move increases the Special Moves  Next effect of all allied sync pairs by one rank and applies Alola Circle (Special) to the allied field of play. Alola Circle (Special) powers up the special attack moves and special sync moves of your allies while reducing the damage they take from those moves. The more Alola-themed sync pairs on your team, the more effective Alola Circle (Special) becomes.

Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego can dish out the damage as well. Acid has a chance to lower the target’s Sp. Def, and thanks to the Poison-Type Hit: Poison 9 passive skill, it will leave the target poisoned too. Ultra Opportunity! boosts the user’s Sp. Atk by four stat ranks and increases their critical hit rate by three stat ranks.

Both moves interact directly with the powerful Nihil Meteor Beam buddy move. It can only be used when the user’s Sp. Atk is raised, and its power increases if the target’s Sp. Def has been lowered. Additionally, if the target is poisoned, Nihil Meteor Beam will lower their Sp. Def, making subsequent uses of the move even more damaging.

For more details on this sync pair’s passive skills and moves, check out Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego’s in-game sync pair scout screen. Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego are available in their Poké Fair Scout from August 1, 2024, at 11:00 p.m. PDT to August 25, 2024, at 10:59 p.m. PDT.

Plumeria & Salazzle

Plumeria may be a Team Skull admin, but she works well together with Selene and her latest partner. Plumeria & Salazzle have the Alola strike theme skill and deal special damage, making them a perfect teammate for empowering Alola Circle (Special) and benefiting from its damage bonuses. This is in addition to the bonuses the two already get from their shared theme skills.

Plumeria & Salazzle are available to scout from the general pool of 5★-sync pairs, as well as from the 5★-Guaranteed Ticket Scout and 5★-Guaranteed Alola Ticket Scout.

Janine & Ariados

Poison-type sync pairs excel at whittling down the opposition, and Janine & Ariados take full advantage. Since Selene (Alt.) & Nihilego can easily leave opposing sync pairs poisoned with their passive skill Poison-Type Hit: Poison 9, Janine & Ariados can quickly go about lowering the opponent’s Attack, Sp. Atk, and Speed with Venom Drench. This can make even the most difficult battles far easier to complete, so don’t underestimate the power of poison!

Janine & Ariados are available to scout from the general pool of 4★-sync pairs.

Wield your poison wisely, Trainers!
