PANICK Entertainment, a “new horror and science fiction content venture,” launched at San Diego Comic Con with executives from DC Comics and Heavy Metal. They plan to begin with comics and graphic novels before expanding into films, TV, video games, and other transmedia projects.
The management team has a lot of experience, and includes:
- CEO Kris Longo, former Publisher of Heavy Metal (see “Interview: Heavy Metal Interim CEO“).
- Head of Studio and Executive Editor Adam Schlagman, former VP of Film & Integrated Content at DC and Executive Producer of Shazam!, Black Adam, The Kitchen, and more.
- Chief Operating Officer Doug Pasko, screenwriter experienced in television and film production.
- Chief Financial Officer Charles Christopher Chiang, former Manager of Finance for DC Comics.
- Chief Creative Officer Mark McCann, a writer, illustrator, and editor.
The company will be supported by Longo’s marketing agency Modern Fanatic. Additionally, former President & Chief Creative Officer of IDW Chris Ryall has the title of Chief Advisor, “providing guidance on slate development, branding, world-building, and more.”
The company’s first project will be the PANICK Primer, to be launched via crowdfunding.
