The Rising Volt Tacklers have accomplished a lot since Part 1 of Pokémon Horizons concluded. They’ve visited a new region, caught new Pokémon, and had a few confrontations with the Explorers. The team of adventurers even touched on the past, recounting Friede and Captain Pikachu’s first meeting and how that led to the construction of the Brave Olivine.
With Part 3 becoming available on Netflix on August 9, 2024, it’s time to brush up on Part 2 with a quiz. Just be sure you’ve already watched these recent episodes, because the quiz contains spoilers.

The crew returns to the ship only to discover that something has delayed the automatic scan, and Friede and Dot ominously conclude that something is very wrong with the Brave Olivine, further delaying their departure to Galar to pursue information about the black Rayquaza.What part of the ship does Orla initially report is acting up?
- In Episode 14, “Fly! Wattrel!,” Dot is desperately trying to fix the airship’s wireless communications but isn’t having much luck. Noctowl alerts Friede to the presence of a group of Magneton near the ship, and Friede and Charizard chase them away but are lured into a battle with a Beheeyem. Meanwhile, Liko and Murdock go shopping in town for cooking supplies, and Roy becomes determined to help the wild Wattrel learn to fly. In the process, Fuecoco disturbs some wild Pokémon, and Roy, Fuecoco, and Wattrel get chased by a particularly angry Pokémon. Ultimately, Roy’s efforts are successful, and Wattrel learns to fly—then decides it wants to join Roy on his journey. - In Episode 15, “Someone We Can’t See! Whosawhatsit?,” Liko is disoriented after bumping into Spinel, who steals her pendant. In fact, Liko can’t remember why she’s back in Paldea. The Rising Volt Tacklers are worried about Liko’s prolonged absence and go looking for her, with Dot using the internet to search for rumors about a Pokémon Trainer with a Sprigatito. Dot reaches out to Iono for help finding Liko, which kicks off an intense game of hide and seek. With Dot and Iono working together, the Rising Volt Tacklers find Liko, who slowly regains her memory. But with the return of her memory, Liko makes the unfortunate discovery that her pendant is missing.While Liko is still disoriented, she pulls something out of her bag but says she doesn’t know what it is. - In Episode 16, “Quaxly, We Can Do It!,” the Rising Volt Tacklers are determined to challenge the Explorers to get Liko’s pendant back. But first, Dot needs to catch Quaxly to make it her official partner Pokémon. The Rising Volt Tacklers track down Spinel on a cargo ship just as it leaves port, and Dot and Quaxly have their first battle together against Spinel’s Magneton and Beheeyem. Liko and Roy climb aboard the ship just in time to join Dot in battle, and during the fight, Sprigatito manages to grab the pendant from Spinel. Arboliva emerges to rescue Liko, Roy, and Dot. - In Episode 17, “Special Training Time!,” Roy’s Fuecoco and Wattrel spend a lot of time fighting, and no one is really sure why. Their first battle with Captain Pikachu doesn’t go well, but Roy develops a new strategy involving Wattrel’s Spark and Fuecoco’s Ember. - In Episode 18, “Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!,” Liko and Roy are curious about Captain Pikachu after Roy’s battle against it. Friede reveals that he had quit his job as a corporate researcher and found himself fishing with Ludlow on board the Olivine, which was then just a boat. Friede was jealous that Ludlow had a boat and could go wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted. It was then that Friede’s former teacher, Lucca, suggested he meet a certain wild Pokémon. Friede insisted he already knew everything there was to know about Pikachu—until Friede learned that this Pikachu can fly. Friede and Pikachu soon became partners, and Friede asked Ludlow if he could use the Olivine. From there, Friede asked his childhood friend, Orla, to turn the Olivine into an airship. After Friede concludes his story, Liko, Roy, and Dot catch sight of the Galar region.While fishing with Ludlow, which Pokémon does Friede catch?
- In Episode 19, “The Bittersweet Truth,” the Brave Olivine arrives in Motostoke. Friede reveals that they’ll be traveling by train from Motostoke to Hammerlocke, but the train isn’t running that day, so Orla goes shopping for ship parts. Murdock, Liko, and Roy go shopping for food, and Dot requests that they stop by the Battle Café for a special treat. Liko shares that she’s uncertain what kind of Pokémon Trainer she should be, and Friede assures her that there are plenty of paths. When it starts raining, the trio takes shelter in a mountain hut only to discover a Hatenna asleep inside. Liko is worried the Hatenna is sick and brings it back to the ship, but Molly says Hatenna seems physically fine. Liko realizes Hatenna is easily overwhelmed by emotions, but it also feels lonely when it tries to avoid other people and Pokémon. She tries to return Hatenna to the wild, but Sprigatito intervenes and encourages Hatenna to join Liko’s team. After Liko realizes she’s not ready for their adventures together to end, she catches Hatenna, and the group resumes the journey to Galar Mine.When Murdock and Orla are caught arguing, they reassure Hatenna that they’re friends by saying they’re “thick as” what?
- In Episode 22, “Charge! Galar Mine!,” Friede, Liko, and Roy finally arrive at Galar Mine in search of the black Rayquaza. The wild Pokémon in the mine seem on edge, but the Rising Volt Tacklers aren’t sure why. The group gets separated when Sprigatito and Fuecoco take off chasing wild Pokémon. Meanwhile, Amethio, Zirc, and Onia of the Explorers have also found the mine. Liko ends up feeding the wild Pokémon some treats that Murdock made, and Liko and Roy encounter human workers who have been sapped of their energy. The Explorers confront the Rising Volt Tacklers, but the battle is interrupted when the Pokémon they thought was the black Rayquaza arrives, and it’s actually a Galarian Moltres. It fiercely attacks them, and Liko and Roy escape via a mine cart after Captain Pikachu intervenes on their behalf. This leaves Friede and Amethio to face the enraged, powerful Pokémon.Aboard the airship, Murdock takes a sip of what he thinks is coffee before coughing and saying there’s something wrong with the drink. What is Murdock actually drinking?
- In Episode 23, “Fiery Galarian Moltres,” Liko and Roy take their Pokémon to the Pokémon Center, where they bump into Friede, who successfully escaped the mine. When Roy’s Pokémon start fighting again, the team forms a plan to use Sprigatito’s calming scent to quell Galarian Moltres’s anger. The trio returns to the mine to confront the Pokémon once more. Sprigatito rides on Charizard’s back to get closer to Galarian Moltres, but the encounter doesn’t go as planned. Finally, Liko approaches Galarian Moltres, demanding to know why it’s so angry. When it looks like the Pokémon might attack, Arboliva emerges to protect Liko. Everyone works together to enhance Sprigatito’s aroma, and Galarian Moltres finally calms down and begins talking to Liko’s pendant. Terapagos emerges from the pendant, and eventually, the Ancient Adventurer Lucius appears as well, seemingly comforting Galarian Moltres. After Lucius vanishes, Galarian Moltres disappears into its Ancient Poké Ball.
