Wizards of the Coast Drops Previews of New ‘Magic: The Gathering’ Horror Set

Wizards of the Coast dropped previews of Duskmourn: House of Horror, a new Magic: The Gathering set, which will officially release on September 27, 2024.

Duskmourn: House of Horror is a modern horror-themed Standard set that takes place in a haunted mansion setting (see “‘Magic: The Gathering’ Releases“). It, based on the card images released, is a mash-up of horror story elements that combine to make an ultimate house of horrors for de-sparked planeswalkers come alive. Thus far, the set’s theme can best be described as Betrayal at House on the Hill meets Silent Hill.

The set sees the return of the Delirium mechanic to the Standard format and features Mirror Monster cards. There are also a cycle of Enchantment Creatures called Overlords with a new Impending mechanic, which allows players to cast the card as an Enchantment and “suspend” it becoming a creature. The main heroes in this set include Kaito, The Wandering, and Tyvar.

The set will come in its usual array of SKUs, which include Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Prerelease Kits, Bundles, and Commander Decks. The four Commander Decks for the set are titled Death Toll, Miracle Worker, Jump Scare!, and Endless Punishment. There will be a special bundle for this set called the Nightmare Bundle. The set will also have brand-new card treatments, including the Double Exposure treatment, full-art Manor lands, Special Guest cards, and more.
