Skybound and Image Comics, under license from Hasbro, will introduce an all-new character in the upcoming G.I. Joe ongoing series launching on November 13, the companies announced. The new series is written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Tom Reilly and colors by Jordie Bellaire.
G.I. Joe characters were brought into the Energon Universe, which also includes Transformers, by Skybound in Void Rivals (see “G.I. Joe and Transformers in Shared Universe“), and fleshed out in two 2023 miniseries, Duke (by the same team as the upcoming ongoing series), and Cobra Commander (also written by Williamson). Two additional G.I. Joe miniseries, Scarlett and Destro, launched this month (see “G.I. Joe Limited Series“). In the new ongoing G.I. Joe series, the newly formed G.I. Joe and Cobra meet for the first time.
“Duke, Cobra Commander, Scarlett and Destro have been mere teases of what we have in store,” Skybound co-founder and Void Rivals writer Robert Kirkman said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Now Josh, Tom and crew are bringing us a new vision of these beloved characters that will stand next to Transformers and Void Rivals as the cornerstones of the Energon Universe!”
