Phalanx Team Releases New Board Game “HUANG” Designed by Reiner Knizia

Phalanx Team has released “HUANG,” a new board game designed by Reiner Knizia, set during the ancient Chinese Warring States period. The game, which accommodates 2 to 4 players, combines elements of area control, tile placement, and set collection, with an average playtime of around 90 minutes.

Players take on the roles of leaders from the Warring States, engaging in strategic placement of their leaders—Governor, Soldier, Farmer, Trader, and Artisan—on the game board. The objective is to expand territory, manage resources, and gain influence through clever deployment of these characters and the building of pagodas.

The game incorporates traditional Chinese elements, both in its aesthetic, drawing inspiration from classical Chinese canvas painting, and in its thematic integration of the Chinese zodiac, which influences the strengths and strategies of each player’s kingdom.

“HUANG” also includes two expansions, “Eighteen Kingdoms” and “Bandits,” which were not previously available and are now part of the initial game purchase. These expansions add new dimensions and challenges to the gameplay.
