Kickstarter Announces Expanded Support for Creators Beyond Initial Funding

Kickstarter has introduced new initiatives to extend its support to creators beyond the initial funding phase. In a recent video release titled “A New Vision for Kickstarter,” CEO Evert Taylor, alongside other team members, outlined a series of enhancements designed to help creators succeed after their campaigns conclude.

Having facilitated the funding of various creative projects over the past 15 years, with backers pledging more than $8 billion, Kickstarter is now looking to address the challenges that arise post-funding. According to Taylor, these challenges include marketing, fulfillment logistics, and ongoing communication with backers.

To better assist creators in these areas, Kickstarter is transitioning from its traditional crowdfunding model to a more comprehensive support platform. VP of Product and Design, Elana Jacobs, introduced a new feature called “late pledges,” which allows creators to continue raising funds after their campaign has ended. This aims to leverage continued interest in projects and increase total funding.

Kickstarter is also set to improve its tools for managing post-campaign responsibilities. The platform plans to update its survey tools to facilitate the efficient collection of backer information, crucial for reward fulfillment. These upcoming enhancements are designed to streamline the process for creators, making it easier to manage logistics and deliver rewards on time.

An addition to the platform is the creation of a Performance Marketing team, as explained by Andrew Marx, Director of Product for Kickstarter’s Performance Team. This new team will focus on helping creators expand their reach and attract new audiences to their campaigns through tailored marketing strategies.
