Project L: Square One Achieves Funding Goal on Kickstarter, Introduces New Gameplay Elements

Project L: Square One, the sequel to the popular engine-builder game Project L, has successfully surpassed its funding goal on Kickstarter. With 69 hours left in the campaign, which ends on May 2, the project has raised $116,193, exceeding the initial goal of $75,013 with the support of 2,095 backers.

Square One is designed for 1-4 players and enhances the engine-building gameplay of its predecessor by introducing a time-based mechanic. This new element is intended to offer both an increased challenge and higher replayability, appealing to both families and strategic game enthusiasts. The game features tactile pieces used to complete sequences, with the goal of creating satisfying combos for points.

The core gameplay involves timing actions to efficiently complete sequences. Players have a choice of five actions per turn, with each action aimed at managing and completing sequences. Key actions include taking sequences from the pool, placing pieces into rows, merging and splitting pieces for better fits, and using the MASTER ACTION, which completes one row in every sequence but is limited to once per turn.

Successful completion of sequences through synchronized actions can result in combos, which are crucial for accumulating points to win the game. Players must strategize whether to target simpler sequences for consistent points or challenge themselves with complex sequences for potentially larger rewards.

The campaign also introduces the Joker Expansion, which supports up to 6 players and adds new sequences and a versatile Joker piece that provides additional strategic options.
