In case you missed it, a fresh batch of Spy X Family episodes are now available on Blu-ray and steeply discounted. Available at Amazon in standard and special editions, both versions also come with the series on a regular DVD.
The Limited-edition has some terrific physical extras, as it comes with a pair of stylish cufflinks, vinyl stickers, three art cards of the main characters, a 40-page art book, and a notepad featuring Anya Forger’s meme-generating face. For the digital extras, both editions have clean opening and closing credit sequences, interviews with the voice actors, and a music video.
In case you missed it when it first debuted, Spy X Family has been a big hit with anime fans. Set in a fictional nation, the show follows secret agent Twilight as he goes behind enemy lines and pretends to be a family man. It’s not long before Twilight finds his family, but the twist here is that he doesn’t know that his adopted daughter has psychic powers or that his wife is secretly an assassin. Also, there’s a dog who can see the future.
The show has received critical acclaim for its adaptation of the popular manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, and this Blu-ray includes the 13 episodes from the second half of the first season. In case you missed the first part, you can order it on Blu-ray from Amazon and save 50%, as it has been marked down to $32.
A couple of other great anime series are out on Blu-ray next month, and if the idea of high-stakes scams targeting the rich and the corrupt sounds like a fun time to you, don’t miss out on this deluxe edition of Great Pretender when it arrives in March. For something different, there’s a fun remake of the classic romantic comedy Urusei Yatsura, as both seasons are now available on physical media.
