Modiphius Entertainment to Release “Mass Effect the Board Game – Priority: Hagalaz” in 2024

Modiphius Entertainment Ltd. has announced a new addition to its lineup: “Mass Effect the Board Game – Priority: Hagalaz.” This board game, crafted by Eric M. Lang and Calvin Wong Tze Loon, offers a cooperative, narrative-driven experience for 1-4 players, set within the acclaimed Mass Effect 3 universe.

The storyline of the game unfolds in the year 2186, amidst the catastrophic invasion of the galaxy by the Reapers, an ancient machine race. The Citadel Races find themselves in dire straits after disregarding Commander Shepard’s warnings about the impending threat. In this desperate scenario, players assume the role of Shepard and the crew of the Normandy, embarking on missions to ready the Crucible, an age-old alien superweapon, as a last resort to counter the Reaper assault.

The narrative’s focus is the remote planet of Hagalaz, where a Cerberus research cruiser has crashed, soon to be engulfed by a lethal storm. Players are tasked with leading their squad through the wreckage to unveil its hidden dangers and prevent its secrets from being captured by enemies. The game intensifies as players encounter not only Cerberus forces but also more daunting adversaries lurking within the cruiser.

“Mass Effect the Board Game – Priority: Hagalaz” is characterized by its branching narrative campaign, which offers varied playthroughs and a distinctive experience each time. The game features a card-driven AI mechanism that adapts to player decisions, making early choices crucial to the trajectory of subsequent missions. Players can assemble their squad from beloved characters of the Mass Effect trilogy, such as Liara, Tali, Wrex, and Garrus, and customize their abilities, equipment, and powers as they progress.

Enhancing the physical appeal of the game are six detailed 32mm scale pre-assembled plastic miniatures, representing both male and female versions of Shepard, as well as Liara, Tali, Wrex, and Garrus.
