“The Planestrider’s Journal” Set to Launch for D&D 5E and Level Up Advanced 5th Edition Fans

“The Planestrider’s Journal” is announced to launch on Kickstarter in March 2024, aiming to enhance the gaming experience for players of Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (D&D 5E) and Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition (A5E). This upcoming publication is designed to offer a comprehensive cosmology that integrates seamlessly with both D&D 5E and A5E, enabling players to utilize the journal alongside their core rulebooks.

Within the pages of “The Planestrider’s Journal,” players will find detailed descriptions of 30 planes of existence, providing a wide array of settings for adventure. Additionally, the journal introduces eight planefaring ships for navigating these realms, 17 new archetypes (subclasses) for character development, 14 feats, 12 magic items, and 13 new spells to enhance gameplay. The publication also includes 57 new monsters, 11 exploration challenges, and digital rewards, such as a VTT token pack featuring the new monsters.

The Kickstarter campaign offers backers the opportunity to obtain a PDF copy of the journal for £20, which includes the monster token pack. Physical editions are also available, with hardcover books priced at £50 and Collector’s Editions at £70. Following the campaign’s conclusion, digital rewards are scheduled for immediate distribution to backers, and printed books are anticipated to ship in September 2024.

“The Planestrider’s Journal” aims to provide a gateway to exploring the mysteries of the Transitive Planes, where adventurers can traverse the Astral Seas and uncover the Ethereal Plane, among others. It ventures further into the heart of the Elemental Planes, presenting realms like Caeloon, the Cardinal Plane of Air, and Jiese, the Cardinal Plane of Fire, each offering unique challenges and opportunities for exploration.

Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition, which “The Planestrider’s Journal” supports, is presented as an enhanced version of the D&D 5E ruleset. After extensive playtesting and community input, A5E offers a more in-depth gaming experience while maintaining compatibility with D&D 5E. This approach has garnered attention and acclaim from major gaming outlets, indicating its success and acceptance within the gaming community.
