WizKids is producing Rebuilding Chicago, a stand-alone follow-up to last year’s Rebuilding Seattle. The new game will release in March 2025.
Set after the devastating Great Chicago Fire of 1871, Rebuilding Chicago tasks players with the responsibility of reconstructing the city. Acting as urban planners, they must clean up their district and guide the construction of new buildings, suburbs, and the iconic landmarks that make Chicago famous.
Building tiles are acquired from a shared market and strategically placed in a neighborhood grid that can be expanded by adding suburb tiles. Buildings placed in the proper combinations can be upgraded to landmarks, while city-wide events provide opportunities for players to score points and players can pass “laws” to give them an advantage.
Rebuilding Chicago is based on Quinn Brander’s Rebuilding Seattle (see “WizKids Makes Plans for ‘Rebuilding Seattle’”). It uses the core mechanics while introducing new event cards, new landmarks, and new tile shapes. It is intended for 1 to 5 players, ages 12 and up, and takes between 1 and 2 hours to play. MSRP is $59.99. Includes rules and a solo player deck for solitaire play.
WizKids has also announced plans for a new DC HeroClix set (see “New ‘DC HeroClix’ Set Inbound from WizKids”), miniatures inspired by classic Dungeons & Dragons monsters (see “WizKids’ ‘D&D Classic Collection’ Continues On”), and a new Encounter in a Box set (see “Fend Off Salty Buccaneers”).
