New Villain Takes the Saddle in ‘Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance’

Marvel will put a new villain into the saddle in Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance, a new series by writer Benjamin Percy and artist Danny Kim. The criminal mastermind The Hood, a.k.a. Parker Robbins, will be taken over by the Spirit of Vengeance, and Johnny Blaze, the current Ghost Rider, won’t be able to reclaim it before Robbins unleashes a violent rampage. Kim is giving the character a new look for the new series, which will launch on March 13, 2024.

The Hood will also be a key character in the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, where he will be played by Anthony Ramos (see “Marvel Collects Backtory of The Hood Before His MCU Debut“). That series was originally scheduled for 2023 release but has been delayed (see “Marvel Delays Seven Disney+ Series”).

“Some villains you know all too well. Doctor Doom. Thanos. Mephisto,” said Percy in a statement accompanying the announcement. “But I find it especially fun to bring the lesser known baddies out of the shadows and give them a shot at a starring role. That’s what I did with Omega Red during X Lives of Wolverine/X  Deaths of Wolverine—and that’s what I’m doing now with Ghost Rider. The Hood wants a taste of the big-time. And he’s made a deal with the devil to help him on his way. This is what happens when the Spirit of Vengeance is stripped from Johnny Blaze and grafted on to a character who has no moral compass. An epic crime saga—flavored with horror—awaits readers in Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance.”
