The cavalcade of showbiz news keeps coming now that the strikes are over, and it’s time for another round-up.
James Gunn has added a villain to the cast of Superman: Legacy, according to Deadline. Maria Gabriela de Faria, best known for her role on Animal Control, will play Angelica Spica aka The Engineer. The Engineer first appeared as a DC character, not as a villain, in The Authority #1 (1999). De Faria joins a cast that already includes David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Anthony Carrigan as Rex Mason/Metamorpho (see “‘Superman Legacy’ Casting“).
The Harley Quinn animated series has been renewed at Max for Season 5, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This news comes two months after the show wrapped up Season 4 (see “‘Harley Quinn’ S4“).
Sony Pictures Entertainment unleashed a trailer for Madame Web (see below). The movie stars Dakota Johnston as the title character and is expected to release on February 14, 2024 (see “Sony Pictures Date Moves“).
Marvel Studios released a trailer for What If…? S2 (see below). The second season of this animated series, which was originally planned to launch in early 2023 (see “Marvel Delays“), will start streaming on Disney+ on December 22, 2023.
Netflix revealed a new trailer for Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire (see below). This Zack Snyder science fiction two-part movie event (see “‘Rebel Moon’“) begins streaming on December 22, 2023.
Netflix also revealed an official trailer for Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget (see below). This animated feature by Aardman (see “‘Wallace & Gromit’“) will start streaming December 15, 2023.
Sony Pictures Entertainment released the official trailer for Garfield (see below). The animated feature will hit theaters on May 24, 2024 (see “Best in Shows — 2024“).
Amazon Prime Video released a trailer for Merry Little Batman (see below). This Warner Bros. Animation production features the voices of Yonas Kibreab, Luke Wilson, James Cromwell, and David Hornsby, and will begin streaming on Prime on December 3, 2023.
