Louise Simonson and June Brigman Reunite for New ‘Power Pack’

Writer Louise Simonson and artist June Brigman, the co-creators of Marvel’s Power Pack, are back with a new five-issue limited series featuring the pre-teen superheroes. The series will have a retro feel, bringing the foursome back to their beginnings with a struggle against the Snark, the original Power Pack villains, as well as the Brood. Longtime colleagues Franklin Richards and the X-Men make appearances as well. The series will launch on January 24, 2024, with a cover by Brigman.

Power Pack are four siblings, Alex, Julie, Jack, and Katie Power, who are granted superpowers by a dying alien in order to save the planet from the alien invaders known as the Snark. Simonson and Brigman created the series in 1984, and the original run lasted for 62 issues.

“It’s funny how easy it is to slip back into Power Pack!” Simonson said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “This story explores the looming question: Should Power Pack tell their parents about their powers? I loved hinting at Franklin’s nascent abilities, one blocked by his parents, but too powerful for even them to contain completely.”

Power Pack’s most recent appearance was in an Outlawed spinoff by Ryan North and Nico Leon (see “Marvel Spins Three New Series Out of ‘Outlawed’”).
