For this edition of FanArt Friday, we’re happy to display the art of one of the talented admins of Ilustradoras Unidas and one of the organizers of Pokédex Ilustrada: The Incredible Noroky Ilustrada.
Noroki revealed to the Pokémon Blog Team that art is involved in every aspect of her life. Her fascination with it started when she was a child, and her keenness for cartoons, Japanese animation, and other artists like Alphonse Mucha.
With the passing of time, she started to experiment with illustration, and that passion hasn’t left her, although there were times she couldn’t pursue it. But now, Noroky is completely dedicated to her craft. She draws, creates her own characters, and develops her own stories.
Noroki admitted that she doesn’t create a lot of fan art, but she does for special occasions and when it’s about something she holds dear to her heart, just like Pokémon.
“Pokémon was the beginning of my childhood. Especially because of the animation, I remember filling my folder with prints of the episodes and making collages of my favorite Pokémon. I didn’t play the Pokémon games much, but I still have the Pokédex of the first generation, and I filled it with the Pokémon I caught. On the other hand, I’ve always liked to see what new Pokémon have been released or if any Pokémon has a new evolution,” she said.
Noroky said she usually watches videos while she illustrates, so she always has something related to games, anime, or series in the background: “And, of course, if something Pokémon-related comes out, I’ll watch it happily.”
When asked about her favorite Pokémon, Noroky mentions that she has had multiple ones throughout the years.
“If we talk about the First Generation, my favorite was Mew because of the movie. Raichu was also a favorite of mine because it was so cute. While everyone loved Pikachu, I wanted to be on the other side. Then Zigzagoon appeared, and it reminded me a lot of one of my pets because of its bulging eyes. From the little I played, I managed to catch one, and I named it Pupu,” She concluded.
