Ares Games announced Against the Shadow, the first expansion for War of the Ring: The Card Game, which will hit retail in September 2023.
The new expansion, designed by Ian Brody, will feature all-new Shadow cards adapted to use with a simple flowchart. This will allow players to command the Free Peoples faction against the Shadow bots. It will also expand the base game to include solo mode and cooperative play mode for up to two players. In these modes, the Shadow factions are controlled by special decks of cards included in the expansion.
This expansion will be first demoed at UK Games Expo 2023 on June 2 to June 4, 2023.
