Middle-earth fans can finally rejoice as Free League Publishing releases the much-awaited The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying game. Based on the second edition of The One Ring™ RPG, this 5E adaptation is set in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien’s most beloved masterpiece.
The core volume is accompanied by the Shire™ Adventures sourcebook and a Loremaster’s Screen with a compendium about Rivendell. All three items are now available for purchase on the official website and will soon hit hobby stores worldwide.
The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying is a 236-page hardback volume, beautifully designed and illustrated, and contains everything players need to create 5E adventures set in Middle-earth. The book features six original heroic cultures from the land of Eriador, six new classes, comprehensive rules for journeys, councils, wondrous artifacts, and the subtle magic of Middle-earth. Players will also face a host of terrifying adversaries as they seek to save the world from the returning Shadow.
Shire™ Adventures, a 104-page hardback volume, describes the Shire in great detail, including five short adventures and seven pre-generated characters. The contents are adapted from the Starter Set for The One Ring™ RPG and feature famous Bagginses, Tooks, and Brandybucks!
The Loremaster’s Screen, also available, features a compendium about Rivendell, including a map of the valley and a plan of the house itself.
To celebrate the release, a liveplay trailer featuring Elijah Wood, Deborah Ann Woll, Reggie Watts, and others has been released. The trailer includes footage from the liveplay of the game recorded by Lost Odyssey Events at the LA Comic Con.
The One Ring™ Roleplaying Game, first released in 2011, won a Gold ENNIE for Best Interior Art in 2022. The game is set in Middle-earth during the Third Age, and players take on the roles of restless warriors, curious scholars, and wanderers eager to seek what was lost or explore what was forgotten.
The Lord of the Rings™ Roleplaying game is the most successful tabletop roleplaying core game ever on Kickstarter, and the 5E adaptation is set to bring new players further into the Twilight of the Third Age. Fans of Tolkien’s work can now immerse themselves in Middle-earth and experience the thrill of adventure as they seek to save the world from the shadow that threatens to engulf it.
