Mirka Andolfo, who won a 2022 Harvey Award for Sweet Paprika, is teaming up with artist Laura Braga for a not-so-sweet story about a mother who becomes a killer in order to protect her daughter from a looming menace that threatens not just her but the rest of the world. A menace that seems to involve evil kittens, judging from the cover art. Purr Evil, a mix of horror and urban fantasy, is a six-issue limited series that will launch on July 26, 2023. The comic is produced by Arancia Studio, the Italian atelier that has collaborated with Andolfo on other works, and it will be released simultaneously in the U.S. by Image Comics, in Italy by Star Comics, in France and Belgium by Dupuis, and in Spain, Argentina, and Chile by Moztros. The first issue will be released with four covers, Cover A by Braga, Cover B by Andolfo, Cover C by Peach Momoko, and Cover D by Maika Sozo.
Andolfo is one of the Founding Creators of the new comics publisher DSTLRY (see “Former ComiXology Execs to Mix Digital and Print with New Publisher, DSTLRY”).
