Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron Kickstarter Campaign Smashes Goals and Announces Oblivion’s Maw Expansion

Battle Systems has announced the release of Oblivion’s Maw, the first full gameplay expansion for their highly successful Kickstarter project, Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron. With 12 days still to go, the campaign has already raised almost ten times its original goal of £50,000.

Oblivion’s Maw continues the story from the Dungeons of Enveron campaign, where players attempt to thwart the plans of the Malagaunt for an undead army. This time, the Malagaunt seeks a source of power beyond the material plane and summons the Corrupter, a betentacled other-dimensional monster.

The expansion features several new miniatures, including the Corrupter itself, standing the height of three regular minis. The creature enters play through dimensional portals around the gaming area, and only parts of it can break through at once. Each of its seven tentacles can be plugged into its own base as a standalone miniature, allowing players to fight one flailing appendage at a time.

Additionally, the expansion includes six new quests, introducing new creatures like the Cursed Chest and Cursed Portal, as well as Vestiges, slug-like creatures with an unstable link to their home dimension. The Oblivion’s Maw campaign structure follows the Dungeons of Enveron campaign, where players’ actions throughout the story determine what the Malagaunt will do next.

To enhance the gameplay experience, the expansion adds two new dice, the Tentacle Die and the Maw Die, which are rolled during combat in addition to the standard dice. The random effects of these dice make combat with the Corrupter and its minions quite chaotic.

The Oblivion’s Maw terrain set contains double the amount of terrain found in most Core Space expansions, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the campaign. The set includes additional walls of varying size, raised walkways, walls with hidden doors, and runic pillars.

The Oblivion’s Maw expansion can be added to backers’ pledges for £39. The Kickstarter campaign for Maladum: Dungeons of Enveron runs until April 5, 2023.
