Fantasy Flight Games has announced the release of the second act of their popular tabletop game, Descent: Legends of the Dark. Titled The Betrayer’s War, this expansion pack takes players on a journey to save Terrinoth from the clutches of evil that threaten to wipe out the kingdom’s legacy.
The Betrayer’s War introduces new abilities, enemies, and a new story to tell, making Descent bigger and better than ever. The six heroes of the game, Brynn, Chance, Galaden, Kehli, Syrus, and Vaerix, have all undergone significant upgrades, each with a brand-new hero card complete with new art and abilities. Each hero’s card is double-sided, with a different ability on each side, allowing for more strategic options during a quest.
The Betrayer’s War also introduces a new card type called Legends. These double-sided cards are unlocked as players progress through the campaign, with each side providing a different ability that is always in effect. Legends never cost any fatigue or actions to use, making them a powerful addition to players’ arsenals.
However, the situation in Terrinoth is dire, with the Fourth Darkness having begun. Waiqar the Undying’s armies clash with the servants of Dragonlord Levirax, and the Uthuk Y’llan horde spreads as if guided by an unseen hand. The heroes face dire threats and grave challenges, with enemies tougher than before, and the new stress condition forcing heroes to suffer fatigue. The heroes will need to use every tool in their arsenal to emerge victorious, or risk ending their legend in fire and ruin.
The Betrayer’s War is set to hit store shelves in August, and fans can pre-order their copies of the expansion pack at their local retailer or online through the Fantasy Flight Games webstore. With the fate of Terrinoth at stake, it is up to the heroes to save their homeland from certain destruction.
