Captain Marvel Takes the Lead in New ‘Avengers’ Series

Plus: 60th Anniversary Campaign to Include New Web Series, Return of Animated Series to Disney+

Marvel will launch a new Avengers comics series in May, as part of its Avengers 60th anniversary campaign. The new series will be written by Jed MacKay (Moon Knight, Doctor Strange), with art by Marvel Stormbreaker artist C.F. Villa (X-Men) and will have Captain Marvel leading a team that includes Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Black Panther, Scarlet Witch, and Vision as they face new and familiar perils.

The 60th anniversary promotion, dubbed “Avengers: Beyond Earth’s Mightiest,” will also include two new short-form video series, Marvel’s Avengers: Stunt Squad and Marvel Mech Strike: Mechasaurs on the kid-friendly Marvel HQ platform, as well as the return of animated series featuring Avengers members, including Marvel’s Avengers: Secret Wars, Marvel’s Avengers Black Panther’s Quest, and Marvel’s Spider-Man, to the Disney+ streaming service.

Penguin Classics recently announced the addition of an Avengers volume to the Marvel Classics line (see “Penguin Classics to Publish Three New Marvel Collections“).
