Without much competition, Avatar: The Way of Water again topped the weekend box office for a fifth week in a row. The film grossed an estimated $31.1 million domestically to bring its domestic total to $570.3 million. Internationally, the film grossed about $140 million over the week to lift that total to $1.331 billion. Worldwide, the film has grossed $1.901 billion and is sure to cross the $2 billion mark in the next week or so.
M3GAN was again in second place with an estimated $17.9 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $59.8 million after two weeks. Internationally, the film grossed about $19.4 million over the week to bring that to $34.2 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $94 million.
In third place was Puss in Boots: The Last Wish which grossed $13.4 million. Domestically, the film has grossed $110.3 million. Over the week, the film added $31.4 million to its international total to bring that to $141.1 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $251.3 million.
A Man Called Otto held on to fourth place with $12.6 million and domestically has grossed $21.2 million. $6.1 million got added to the international gross over the week to bring that to $14.5 million giving the film a worldwide gross so far of $35.7 million.
Rounding out the top five was the newcomer Plane which grossed $10 million over the weekend for a total of $11.6 million. No international gross has been reported.
In comic film news…
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever slipped to seventh place and grossed $2.2 million to bring its domestic total to $449.5 million. Internationally, the film added about $3.9 million over the week to bring that to $385.7 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $835.1 million.
Black Adam‘s domestic gross ticked up a bit over the week by about $100,000. It now stands at $168.2 million. Over the week the international remained steady at $224.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed just under $393 million.
Evangelion: 3.0+1.01 Thrice Upon a Time looks to have ended its run. Domestically, it has grossed $810,744. Internationally, the film has already grossed $92.9 million for a worldwide gross of $93.7 million.
The week’s overall box office success…
Numbers have 30 films earning $98,207,755 from 31,113 theaters. That’s a slight dip from last weekend’s $106,198,898 from 26,677 theaters and 42 films. The average earning was $3,156.49 this past weekend, a drop from the previous weekend’s $3,980.92.
