Craig Yoe and Clizia Gussoni are partnering with Dark Horse Comics in a distribution deal for their Yoe Books, and they are kicking things off by reviving the comics anthology Blab! Yoe Studios will create the books and Dark Horse will distribute them.
Blab! is an anthology of comics and writing about comics that is edited by Monte Beauchamp. Plans for the new issue, Blab! Volume 1, include stories about the last days of Crime Does Not Pay editor Robert Wood, by Noah Van Sciver; the lives of Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, by Ryan Heshka; the making of the film Nosferatu, by Sasha Velour; and Beatrix Potter’s fascination with nature, by Giselle Potter. Also included are illustrated articles on a variety of topics, including UFOs and gorillas. The 112-page paperback will be available in comic shops on April 26, 2023, and in bookstores on May 9, 2023, with an MSRP of $19.99.
Yoe Books specializes in comics history and collections of older comics and had been an imprint of IDW Publishing since 2009 (see “Craig Yoe Gets Imprint at IDW”); they won two Eisner Awards while at IDW and were nominated for several more. More recently, Yoe Books teamed up with Clover Press to Kickstart Popeye Variations (see “‘Popeye Variations’ Mixes Old and New Takes on Popeye”).
Beauchamp self-published the first two issues of Blab! in 1986-1987, and subsequent issues were published by Kitchen Sink Press and Fantagraphics Books between 1988 and 2007, with Last Gasp publishing two more under the name Blab World in 2010.
