Cosmog can now evolve into Cosmoem in Pokémon GO, Niantic says more Cosmog secrets will be uncovered during the Season of Light

Niantic has announced a new event for Pokémon GO. Read on below to learn more:

Take part in a stellar event as a Legendary Pokémon makes its Pokémon GO debut.

Take a walk amongst the stars—or just catch the Protostar Pokémon Cosmoem—during Pokémon GO’s Evolving Stars event running through October 11, 2022, at 8:00 p.mlocal time. The event marks the next step in the Season of Light, and during it you’ll be able to take on new Special Research to learn more about Cosmog and complete Field Research tasks to earn Stardust, Evolution items, and Mega Energy to help you on your path to greatness. Some of those items may come in handy as you complete event-themed Collection Challenges, too—and you’ll earn Evolution items if you do!

You’ll also be able to make use of your newly evolved Pokémon in the Evolution Cup. This special GO Battle League cup only allows Pokémon that have already evolved and are capable of evolving again. All Pokémon must have a CP of 1,500 or lower to participate. With Collection Challenges and Field Research providing the necessary Stardust and Evolution items, it’s the perfect opportunity to focus on evolving your Pokémon! If you’re looking to participate in the Evolution Cup, keep your eyes peeled for Pokémon like Kakuna, Poliwhirl, Kadabra, Haunter, Rhyhorn, and Seadra appearing in the wild.

But that’s not all! Mega Gyarados will make a splash during Mega Gyarados Raid Day on October 8, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During this time, Mega Gyarados will appear more frequently in raids. You can make the most of this opportunity by receiving up to five additional] Raid Passes by spinning Photo Discs in Gyms, and there will be an increased chance of encountering a Shiny Gyarados!
