Details about next year’s launch of the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game have been revealed by Marvel Entertainment. The Core Rulebook will launch in June, followed by the first adventure book, The Cataclysm of Kang, in July.
Announced last year (see “Marvel Takes to the Table-Top with ‘Marvel Multiverse’ RPG”), the Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game was written by industry veteran and best-selling author Matt Forbeck (The Marvel Encyclopedia, Dungeons & Dragons: Endless Quest) and features cover art by comic book artist Iban Coello. The game allows players to take on the role of their favorite Marvel characters or create their own and explore Marvel comic-style adventures.
The Core Rulebook will feature the full rules of the game, expanding and updating the material in the Playtest Rulebook. The game system includes guidelines for quickly creating characters, fighting battles in comic book style, and powers for heroes and villains. The book also details many of the characters from Marvel’s universe.
The final version of the Core Rulebook will include updates based on feedback from fans, as designer Forbeck explained: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the volume and quality of the feedback the Narrators and players gave us on the Playtest Rulebook, and we truly took it to heart for the core rulebook.”
A month after the launch of the Core Rulebook, The Cataclysm of Kang will be released. This Adventure Book was also written by Forbeck.
The Marvel Multiverse Role-Playing Game: Playtest Rulebook was offered earlier this year (see “Marvel Unveils More ‘Marvel Multiverse RPG’ Deets”).
