Although Dark Horse is not exhibiting with a booth at conventions through 2022, we are pleased to announce a full slate of panels, spotlights, and other events happening at SDCC this year, featuring Dark Horse partners, creators, staff, and more.
Below, find a schedule of panels and other events and their locations around the convention center, and a short list of Dark Horse creators and their table locations and panel schedules, where applicable.

Spotlight on Cecil Castellucci (Soupy Leaves Home, Shifting Earth, Critical Role: The Mighty Nein Origins—Yasha Nydoorin)

Comic-Con special guest and award-nominated author Cecil Castellucci has carved a vibrant career in works that vary in style and scope, from licensed comics to creator-owned books. But comics are just the beginning of how she tells stories. She also writes novels and librettos as well as formerly being in an indie rock band! Come hang out with her as she is joined by pal and fellow creator Jackson Lanzing for a conversation about writing, craft, art life, collaboration, and navigating the ups and downs of making a career as a creator.

Spotlight on Jock (Snow Angels)

Comic editor Will Dennis sits down with three-time New York Times bestselling British artist Jock, who is best known for his comics work with writer Andy Diggle on DC/Vertigo’s The Losers, the award-winning Batman: The Black Mirror, and Wytches with writer Scott Snyder. Jock has also produced key art and concept design for films including Dredd, Annihilation, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the Oscar-winning Ex Machina.
Matt Kindt’s Flux House

For over 20 years, bestselling cartoonist Matt Kindt has been writing and illustrating creator-owned comics that balance action-packed storytelling with a highly personal creative vision, with titles like BRZRKR (with Keanu Reeves), Apache Delivery Service, BANG! Dept. H, Ether, Fear Case, MIND MGMT, Folklords, Revolver, 3 Story, Super Spy, and Pistolwhip. Now the acclaimed cartoonist is collaborating with Dark Horse Comics, his longtime publisher, to launch Flux House, a new boutique imprint that will feature the writing (and sometimes) art of Kindt, with crime, science fiction, and humor stories, all told and presented in startling and untraditional ways.
Masters of the Universe (The Art of Masters of the Universe: Revelation; comic series Masters of the Universe: Revelation)

Kevin Smith (Netflix’s Masters of the Universe: Revelation) interviews some of the greats from MOTU’s history, including talent and creators from each era, spanning toys, film, TV, and publishing. Hear why MOTU has been a pop culture sensation for four decades and get a sneak peek at what’s to come.
Solar Opposites (TBA!)
7:15-8:15PM – Room 6BCF
The Solar Opposites co-creators and EPs Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan, with EP Josh Bycel, will discuss the newly released season 3 on Hulu and what the aliens are up to later this year. Accompanied by cast members Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone, and Mary Mack, this discussion is sure to be otherworldly.

Comics editor Will Dennis sits down with celebrated comic book writer Scott Snyder. Scott is best known for his work on Batman, American Vampire, and Wytches. He has recently worked on series for Comixology Originals including We Have Demons with Greg Capullo, Night of the Ghoul with Francesco Francavilla, and Clear with Francis Manapul.
Spotlight on Frank Miller (Sin City, 300, Xerxes)

The legendary artist/writer Frank Miller is regarded as one of the most influential and awarded creators in the entertainment industry today, known for his intense, and visceral storytelling and gritty noir aesthetic across comics, novels, and film. His transcendent and groundbreaking works include Ronin, Batman: The Dark Knight, Batman: Year One, Sin City, 300, and more. Recently, Miller launched Frank Miller Presents (FMP), an independent publishing company focused on creating and curating a line of comics that will prioritize developing and producing work with the industry’s greatest and rising artists. Join Miller for a one-on-one interview conducted by his old pal Bill Sienkiewicz.
Lucasfilm Publishing: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away…

Avatar: Braving the Elements Live!

Ready to explore the amazing world of Avatar: The Last Airbender? Avatar: Braving the Elements, the official companion podcast co-produced by Nickelodeon and iHeartRadio, is back for season 2 and bringing you an episode live from Comic-Con! Hosts Janet Varney (the voice of Korra) and Dante Basco (the voice of Prince Zuko) conduct a one-of-a-kind panel that takes you behind the scenes of how Avatar was brought to life.
Stranger Things Books

Enter the upside down with authors Adam Christopher (Stranger Things: Darkness on the Edge of Town), Suyi Davies (Stranger Things: Lucas on the Line), Jody Houser (Stranger Things: Science Camp), and audiobook narrator Reginald James (Stranger Things: Lucas on the Line) discuss their official Stranger Things books and graphic novels based on the hit series. The Multiverse of David Dastmalchian

Actor David Dastmalchian (Dune, The Suicide Squad, Ant-Man) discusses his experience crossing between fandoms and franchises and how that has affected his career and his take on the craft—how much was planned, and what was a surprise. As “The Man Who Walks Between Worlds” David even created his own universe series at Dark Horse Comics, Count Crowley, arriving full circle from consumer to player to creator. With roles in multiple installments of both the DC and Marvel universes along with classic sci-fi and horror, what universe might be next on David’s list? The Hollywood Reporter’s Aaron Couch will moderate.
Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters: The Making of a Documentary

Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters is a feature-length documentary about Mike Mignola and the creation of his comic book universe centered around Hellboy. The film features Mignola himself, along with Neil Gaiman, Guillermo Del Toro, Rebecca Sugar, Patton Oswalt, Ron Perlman, Victor LaValle, Doug Jones, Duncan Fegredo, and dozens more discussing the characters and worlds Mignola has created, from comics to film, to his impact on pop culture. Filmmakers Kevin Konrad Hanna and Jim Demonakos discuss the making of the film and show an exclusive clip.
Spotlight on Tula Lotay (Barnstormers)

Comics editor Will Dennis moderates an intimate conversation with the ultra-talented comic, film, and editorial illustrator Tula Lotay. Tula is a GLAAD Media Award-winning artist known for her beautifully ethereal illustration style and has worked with clients including DC Comics, Marvel Entertainment, Image Comics, Warner Brothers, Disney, Playboy, Entertainment Weekly, Variety, Mondo, and Amazon Studios.
Water, Earth, Fire, Air: Continuing the Avatar Legacy

Abrams Books, Dark Horse Comics, and Magpie Games are thrilled to treat fans to a panel worthy of the Avatar! F. C. Yee (author, Chronicles of the Avatar), Brendon Conway (co-owner, Magpie Games), Janet Varney (voice, The Legend of Korra animated series), and moderator Cara O’Neil (senior director of marketing, Dark Horse Comics) explore the past, present, and future of the beloved world.
Climate in Crisis: Comics to Seed Hope

As world leaders attempt to scramble to face the coming decades, creators have as well, by telling stories focusing on the climate crisis to serve as both metaphor and call to action. Creators Corinna Bechko (Avatar: Adapt or Die), Cecil Castellucci (Shifting Earth), JR Hughto (That Distant Fire), Phillip Sevy (Kepler), and Matthew Groom (The Mystery of Ultraseven) are tackling seeding hope and visions for good futures in their stories while sounding the alarm about the high stakes of inaction when considering the state of our home, Planet Earth.
SYFY’s Resident Alien Invades Your Con

The cast of Resident Alien, Alan Tudyk, Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, and Judah Prehn, and executive producer/showrunner Chris Sheridan come together for the first time on the same stage to answer your burning questions and give you an out-of-this-world exclusive look into the season 2 return on August 10 on SYFY.
