Top Gun: Maverick had a hell of a week returning to first place at the weekend box office based on initial numbers. It had an estimated gross of a little over $30.5 million to bring its domestic total to $521.7 million. With the film’s international gross of $484.7 million, the movie has grossed over $1.006 billion worldwide.

Elvis opened up in second place with an even $30.5 million. Internationally, the film grossed $20 million delivering an opening weekend of $50.5 million.

Jurassic World Dominion slipped to third place grossing $26.4 million to bring its domestic total to $302.8 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $71.5 million at the international box office. There it has now grossed $443.9 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $746.7 million.

The Black Phone debuted with $23.4 million to come in fourth. Internationally, the film grossed $12.5 million. Worldwide, it has grossed $35.8 million.

Lightyear came in fifth place dropping from last weekend’s second and tumbling 65.1%. The film earned an estimated $17.7 million to bring its domestic gross to $88.8 million. Over the week, the film grossed about $29 million internationally to bring that total to $63.6 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $152.4 million.

In comic film news…

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness came in sixth place earning $1.7 million and bringing its domestic total to $409.2 million. Internationally, the film has grossed $537.8 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed a little over $947 million. The film is inching towards $1 billion, will it cross the line?

Morbius is finally staked at the box office. The film’s domestic gross is $73.9 million. Internationally, the film remained steady with $90 million. Worldwide, the film has grossed $163.9 million (about a trillion Morbinbucks).

Initial numbers has 23 films earning $133,359,398 from 25,723 theaters. That’s a slight dip from last weekend’s 53 films which earned $164,517,369 from 22,357 theaters. Still, it’s another strong weekend for 2022. The average earning was $5,184.44 this past weekend, slightly less than the previous weekend’s $7,358.65.
